Sweet find! How the mint didn't catch this, I don't know. Date appears to be a 2001.

Since the coin features a correctly-facing incuse profile of Lincoln, this coin was struck through a rotated, late-stage die cap.

That's for a regular die cap strike, John1. Wouldn't the fact that this was double struck in the collar *and* a die cap increase the value?

This cent was struck only once. The cap was struck more than once, rotating before the last strike (the one involving the planchet represented by this coin). That said, rotated cap strikes and all other types of shifted cap strikes are worth more than a generic, late-stage capped die strike. Value is commensurate with the clarity and number of incuse images.

ADVICE
A friend of mine made an offer on it. I'm on the fence because I have a hard time letting anything go, especially because it's a personal find.
Does anyone have a ballpark on the value for something like this?
And also, because I may not let it go and keep it- I'm thinking about sending it off in the next batch to PCGS for my own keepsake. Any idea how it is worded on the slab?

I bet that coin would look great in a slab. Nice find! !

Ghawk, it's hard to gauge value for this coin, but considering what I sold my own find for a couple years back, you should be able to get at least $150 for it, if it were encapsulated.

Adam_E- Thanks, I couldn't find any other examples on ebay or anywhere else for that matter.
