Under the 'O' on the reverse and under the 'C' on the reverse there are some small marks. Would these be considered bag marks?

@JGPenny, the marks under the O would be a contact mark, but under the C is a planchet flaw I believe

Thanks for the insight. Please correct me if I am wrong in either of the two statements. 1. A contact mark would reduce the grade slightly but not automatically put it into the AU category like wear would. 2. A planchet flaw would have no affect on grade. Beautiful coin. Thanks for the education friends!

Quote: 1. A contact mark would reduce the grade slightly but not automatically put it into the AU category like wear would. 2. A planchet flaw would have no affect on grade. On point 1 the simple answer is yes. All MS coins except MS-70 will have contact marks. It's just a matter of what degree. The difference between an MS-63 and MS-68 Morgan dollar is the number of detracting contact marks and bag marks (which are a form of contact marks) on the coin. On point 2, that would theoretically be correct and is so on circulated coins. However once you get to high end MS coins they start being counted as they are distracting and and while aren't PMD or a contact mark do disrupt the surfaces.

Where's my trophy?! Quote: Knockout coin, congrats! Thanks! Finally glad to knock this one off the list. Halves are actually the closest to completion I think. I need a walker and then a capped bust half and I'll be done I think. I don't plan on doing flowing hair because I think they're ugly as get out. For small cents I still need a Type 1 & 2 Indian, a FEC, and an upgraded steel cent.
