Perhaps DDO-008 based on the last T of TRUST (008/003 are very similar, but the angle of the final T is different)

I think it's the 003. Great find!

Thanks everyone for the help! I will post a better date image when I get home tonight. Assuming it is the 003 would the correct label be 1972P-1DO-003 or 1972P-DDO-003?

Seeing how this my first find I find myself with more questions -
- What estimated value does the coin have in its condition?
- I know there are grading services - Is this coin worth sending in or just put in a sleeve and put in the collection book?

Pretty excited that I actually found something of interest!

Thanks!

@MrBreeze both are correct. DDO-003 is Dr. Wiles's listing (variety vista), while 1DO-003 is the coppercoins listing. There are many legit listings, but I try to be consistent and use one as my primary listing so I don't end up with two of the same coin in my collection with different labels. The 1972s are very consistent in that the main varieties have the same number across all the listings, but many dates could have major varieties with completely different numbers, so it could be confusing to have two coins that are the same where one is labeled DDO-004 and the other WDDO-017.

To find a value, recommended is searching ebay's SOLD listings to see what similar coins actually sold for.

Very, very nice for a first find. It's pretty much an $8-10 coin, but on the right day with the right bidders might go a bit more as it's a very strong DDO. I've sold ungraded DDO-003 in MS-63 condition at auction and got as little as $16, and seen AU examples go for $30. Ya never know what they will sell for.

Coop is better than I am at figuring these out by the date, but DDO-003 has a tiny die gouge that makes it a certainty.

Tried to get a photo of the area of the die gouge, but not sure I see it.

It sure looks like DDO-003. Yours could be an earlier die state, where the coin was made before the die gouge formed.
