I hope it's the Sans Serif. Quote: I am even more clueless than you. You are too kind, that's not possible, I just added the auction link that I forgot

So do I, that would be quite the purchase! Let's see what the others say. Haha! Believe it when I say, with me, it certainly is! I can be very stupid sometimes EDIT: After looking at the listing, seems like the real deal. Guess we'll see till you have the coin in hand.

ANACS messed up a lot of the attributions back then. So, even if it is, it might not be. If that makes sense Does that Breen cross reference show up on that Cherrypickers page? I can't see so good.

Well ED, did you win the auction? I'm not familiar with the Breen numbers either and hope you guys figured it out correctly. It will be interesting to see what you have if you did. BTW- There are three MM styles for 1946. Here is the link. http://varietyvista.com/07%20Roosev...20Styles.htmEDIT: Well I did find some info with better images of the exact ANACS holder/coin and according to the following link, this coin is the "Sans Serif" variety. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthope...94-443265253If you won it congratulations.

Yes, I did win the auction, and I paid quickly #128518;
Thanks for the links. My searches didn't come up with Worthpoint. They had some nice pics. Wonder where they got them.

Searching this forum like a madman is your friend ( if you are crazy and a bit masochistic which I happen to be lol) http://goccf.com/t/84209Older thread about Breen numbers working on 10 years now I guess nobody is around that remembees this. It was difficult to dig this up.... so goes the search system I guess. Surprised I got lucky really. Unfortunately I do not have this reference book and I really don't know how many people actually do. It's been out of print for more than a decade now. Maybe someone here is, or knows an old timer on here with a vast library of older reference books and can get a cross reference to a newer variety system. It's likely the San serif variety but ya never know until you know for sure. Also found this digging around the interwebs but the link fails to post and work properly, too many redirects to get there I guess, anyways, Seems it is the sans-serif one from the Cherry Pickers Guide if the auction was accurate.

Thanks for the link. Great find for it being 10 years old

From this angle it looks more like a ball serif, with a flat spot on the tail. From this angle, it looks more like a sans serif with a rounded tail. Did ANACS get it wrong or right? My gut says ball serif, but I'm not totally sure.

Well...that's disappointing. Looks like a ball serif to me

Looks like a MMS-001 to me too. Especially from that first pic, can clearly see that flat spot on the lower ball.
Sans serif has a consistent taper into the S.
