Quote: "If you like the subject theme represented by these coins, admire the beauty of the design or would like to own them as a souvenir or to show support for their particular cause, by all means buy them. That's it. Expect these companies selling these to make a profit, not you. IMO, these are no different than those painted quarters. Junk.

Quote: at least we have these kinds of advisories I agree. Most beginners just don't know what coins are good investments. Most "seasoned" collectors or dealers you'd think would know better. Hopefully!

Bobby.......don't forget.......they give you a genuine "Certificate of Authenticity". It's amazing, when I had my retail storefront, how many people came in with this type of stuff to sell and I had to tell them the facts. I could always read their minds when then left: (i.e. "This guy ain't gonna cheat me. I know they are worth lots more than he said)." Sure makes me sick when these companies ruin a good possible coin collector in marketing junk to them. But, fast buck Charlies will always be around in the collector/investment market. Sort of sad. Oh! No offense to anyone named Charlie on here.

Isn't the PNG warning sort of "preaching to the choir"?
Most who buy this stuff are not numismatists or even somewhat educated collectors. I see this sort of advertising in our Sunday paper. What I don't see is a PNG ad saying this is over-priced junk and the buyer should be aware of what exactly they are buying.
Just a thought.

I have noticed the "Barack Obama Inaugural Dollar" banner ad on this website. Anyone buying? It is "Layered in Genuine 24 Karat Gold" I just hope it does not become a "Featured Auction", or the much anticipated "Coin of the week" Unless it is April 1st!
