Comparing these images with those of genuine ones, it looks pretty good to me, but I yield to the experts.

Quote: Also, the graffiti ziggzagg ("M") seems to be on top of the field? If that's the case, the die should have this ziggzagg? Also, there is a "V" ziggzagg between the sheaf and the second last star on the right. It looks like someone carved the name "Kip W" onto the surface. It's raised because of the displacement of metal from the cuts.

I am by far no expert but it appears genuine to me. But like others have said leave it to someone that specializes in them. Pitty about the graffiti.

I too do not see any indication of it being fake. Looks genuine to me. Certainly a details graffiti coin and one I would pass on though.

Thanks all for the input so far - glad it it leaning heavily towards being authentic. Such a shame about the graffiti - I didn't buy it as an individual, it came to me as part of a collection. Assuming it is authentic (i'd hazard a guess at AU details if graded NGC/PCGS) - what would you estimate value? Maybe between $500 - 700 or so?

I wouldn't want to value a graffiti coin.

The graffiti lowers the value substantially and limits the buyer pool. Probably $500 or less is the right ballpark, unless you can find a buyer named Kip W!

Can't put my finger on it, but looks fishy. I'd have it authenticated. let us know!

Just a quick update on this one - came back from NGC UNC details, so I'm happy enough with that!

You knew about the graffiti when you bought it, so you must be happy.

Good to hear it came back genuine!
But, not sure why they would call this UNC when it clearly shows signs of circulation. Both NGC and PCGS are quick to give the bump into UNC bc it will be a Details coin, see it all too often.

TY2020B - completely agree, there's no way this would have straight graded an MS grade if the graffiti hadn't been present, I'd of thought AU 50 would have been more like it, and the corresponding AU details
