the AV is NOT the issue here IMO. not at all. I have 4 of them and know what they are.
However, IMO the A in VictoriA is missing the crossbar.
The A in ReginA is missing the crossbar also...all IMO.
hence to be sure, I asked for better and sharper, enlargeable images.
I would like to emphasize that at this time it is my personal opinion only until we have better images allowing us to better see IT.
I would like to see MM's opinion.
so at this time, my vote is?

Since Pacificoin said "it does not look like", not "it's definitely not", I posted what I posted so he and others would know for sure how to distinguish it.

Good eye for the A's. I played round with the photo above and saw there's a weak crossbar in the A of REGINA. Can't tell for the other one. I think both are weak crossbars like some 1874's.

Here's a crackpot theory. Think of the punch - the crossbar is thin and has a recessed area above and below. If you break off part of the crossbar on the A punch, (maybe while trying to repunch a V by mistake), then repunch another A, the > part will sink, but with the punch crossbar missing a piece, no impression is made. It will look like a V punch was used.

Just curious, why has the OP not posted new images yet?
good new images could eliminate all the guessing and specualting.
until then...I stick to what I said before...

ok, in the meantime, here is a comparison from the subject coin to a certified coin. granted, there may be different dies involved in 1872. BUT both coins are obv 2.
you guys be the judge...and I may be totally looking at the wrong side.... but... see it for yourself.
Okie questioned QV's nose... I question a lot more.
honestly... I hope someone will remove all that doubt.
for those of you who have that coin... please compare.
Another question for the OP:
where did you acquire that "coin"?
and, please weigh the coin and post the weight.

On the Reverse, it looks like the leaf tips at 9-9:00 look to be touching the beads. Allso, from the beginning, it doesn't look like a silver coin. I initially though the washed out look came from heavy cleaning, but it just doesn't look like Ag.

you suggested you would have new images on Friday.
Friday is here and is half gone,
you did post other things today (1872 50 cent piece, one side only).
are you going to "lift the secret" about this coin here and hopefully answer the questions asked so this post can be put to rest?
Inquiring minds would like to know how many of us were right or not right.

I'd agree with the VF20 crowd.
