Quote: If there isn't money in the sellers balance ,THERE IS NO PROTECTION PLAN from PAYPAL, and you get nothing back But the seller seemed up front about it... and may provide a refund(if requested!), to maintain his feedback. Sometimes good people do the right thing... sometimes. But that's a chunk o' change to part with for something that's almost worthless. It pays to ask here first!

Yea true. As long as they didnt pay instant he should be fine. File dispute and the money goes nowhere til its resolved. I dont know anyone who would pay that much for anything instant!

Quote:Nice work with the pictures Kurt! Thanks BadThad! I made the effort in case another potential buyer researches a fishy coin. Also, just in case this buyer gets worried and Googles Ebay item 160306724293 1909-S VDB

Heh, even ebay doesn't believe this one... I can't even draw a straight line, but I could have done better than that "S"

I agree with coppernickeldaddy. Look at the serif on the 1 and the closed second 9 on the coin in question compared to those in the photo of an actual S-VDB. Also, how could anyone buy a major coin with the pictures being as lousy as they are and the disclaimer about the camera ?

S is too slanted, first one is not right. Clear fake. The similar items are replicas- seems like ebay already realized too. Only one not to realize was the buyer. What a shame. Can we report these obvious fakes to ebay if we see them? I think we have a duty to help make ebay a better place.

That is what lead me here. I bid on a basement slabber's MS-68 Morgan when I was just getting started, and ended up here asking for help. Man have I learned a lot since then...

If those Fakes occur in "Similar Items" then he put something like a word "fake" in description. He is obviously lying

I see the listing was removed. I suppose after a few hundred alerts about this obvious fake, ebay got involved? Good.

Personally I don't think ebay cares they want there fees. If they do do something I bet seller pays all the fees. ebay allows people to sell obvious fakes. Stolen Items. Somehow I think someone should charge them with something. Pretty sure being involved in selling stolen goods is illegal. Or in cases like this were its pretty obvious that fraud is taking place. Much more blatent in other cases. Sorry about the rant just makes me angry when some of these crooks take advantage of honest people. And don't want to be misunderstood not everbody on ebay is a crook just a few ruin it for everone else.
