By the way you are describing the note, it sounds like you do have an altered bill because that would be an impossible error. The whole reverse is printed at the same time with the same design so you cannot just change certain design elements.
Of course,

The front looks like a normal un-retouched $10 note

Compare BlackSheep's to this one.

It looks like the 0 was altered to look like 00.

... if it isn't pasted on (the 100) then is the entire note bogus?

....maybe....maybe....

Look at the two images I posted. It looks like someone took a pen and altered the 0's to look like two (much skinnier) 0's.

I wonder if it would really work.

Could four small "100" really take away from the huge TEN DOLLARS at the bottom and an untouched front side?
I honestly think someone was bored!

Regardless, a fascinating find.

Depending on the age of the bill I'm sure you could take it to a bank and cash it in. However you could also sell it on ebay and other places as there are collectors of counterfeits and oddities.

After reading our posts and receiving informational emails
caslin3 has realized she may not have that one in a million error she was hoping to find. (Making her rich)
She is going to take it to a local coin shop for authentication.

It looks like it was altered (which most of us knew at the beginning)

All the input we gave has been appreciated.
and fun
