Seem to be a molding. Someone in the life of this coin want to do something, then use brass molding.

I'm on team brazing for this one (nice work @roth), but I think that we all agree that regardless of the specific method, this cent has been damaged.

I had the cutting torch on so I couldn't get a pinpoint flame and the brazing rod ran all over the coin

Nice Roth! you think your coin up there now has a small added value due to the added brass metal?

(I'm kidding folks)

If the use silver brass molding have something. I do not thing this by color. The brass molding has so much tin inside that will eat the copper during the melting and purification. Nothing worth here.

Well glad to see you post silviosi! I figured you would know composition - All I did was dribble some Brazing rod on a 95% copper cent just to see color. I had the torch on and didn't have time to put the brazing tip on - so Yes. Higher heat over the entire coin - It did get cherry red - but just wanted to show Gold color

@Roth, pay attention because you has many kind of brass molding tips. those are for many applications and different metals molding. Some could be gold yellow, silver color and also white or blue.

Also the molding emulsion is different.
