Nice Avatar there Riverside Rob....... But, as to the question, I would say NEVER BUY FROM THE HOME SHOPPING NETWORK EVER AGAIN !.......the coins you buy from them ARE overpriced and generally would take 3 lifetimes to MAYBE have your coins appreciate in value enough to get "even money" for what you paid. Home Shopping Network is an "evil empire" and their goons should be put on trial and hung. They are the "Snake Oil Saleman" of the mordern age. You know, the kind of people that back in the Old West they would tar and feather and run out of town ? This is the Home Shopping Network ilk. I'll tell ya how I REALLY feel about them another day.....

Red Book and establish a relationship with a dealer. Check ebay and Heritage for ballpark selling prices. If a dealer dismisses you as a noob, high pressures you or simply acts disinterested find another dealer. Denis

Quote: Do you guys think you can get a good deal on coins from tv infomercials . The short answer, No. These people know very little if any about numismatics and there markups are enormous.

HSN/QVC et al, are entertaining to watch, because even used car salesmen don't use those kind of ultra-obvious 'hard-sell' spiels anymore!
The markups on coins sold on TV are ridiculous! There are also a few catalog sellers that are equally ridiculous....
You could always log on here, and ask some of us what "×" coin is worth.

Welcome to the forum Riverside Rob. I hope that you didn't buy too many coins from the home shopping channels. The coins you see on the home shopping channels can usually be purchased at a dealer for far less.

Any kind of "good" deal, they would not spend the $$$ to advertise it. You can buy the coins on ebay or at a coin show without having to pay a premium for advertising. We all live and learn.

I told the wife never, never get me any coins on the HSN so what did she do two years ago buy a set of Sacagawea dollars for like $500.00 CRAP saw the HSN selling the same thing the other day for $80.00 That show should be blown up the way they rip off people that do not know any better. Anyone want a set of Sacagawea dollars give you a bargain at only $ 450.00 :) No I did not yell at her as her heart was in the right place but still makes me so mad at how they take advantage of people.
