Though I concentrate in Aussie issues, I do collect coins that catch my fancy from other countries and the Canadian holographic ones are among them. My pride of the Canadian coins is the 2000 25 cents MULE....

llim, I am trying to buy a couple of 2005 Mob or Roos! Do you have any idea what they are bringing down there right now? I want these very badly but don't want to get too carried away. How many are accounted for, any ideas?
My favorite Canadian coin this year has got to be the Snowy Owl!!! I would prefer to find them in singles though!

llim..."mule" as in the animal ?,or is it some kind of abreviation I'm not familiar with ? That's because I just bought today a 2002 50 cent coin with a...flying pig .That's the one I tried to post a picture here, but didn't work...i would say,so far, from all the other ones ( including that overpriced 2005 Limited Series Red Enamel Flag),my wife is most proud of the bloody piggy..go figure..

"MULE" as in numismatic terms where the obverse of a coin, medal or token is not matched with the official reverse. In this case, the obverse is that of your regular 25 cents issue where as the reverse is that of a Millennium medallion. Here is one on auction on ebay..... Have a Look

Terry, Lim must have missed your question. There are quite a few 2005 mob of roos around but mainly in Sydney and Melbourne at the moment. They are not a very special coin it is just that they were released late. I have not seen any in Brisbane but I do have one that was sent to me from Sydney. I am sure one of our forum members should be able to get a couple for you.

Abyss... All of the coins in this series contains holographic devices except this one, is there a reason why the RCM did not use it I have this one as well and it is IMO a very close second to the Aurora Borealis...I have "darken" the outer rim of the coin to highlight the myraid splash of colours in the holographic device.

llim, I have no idea why the "Canadian Rockies" it's not a hologram (I'm a big help, aren't I ? ).The only thing I could find about it ( in a catalog) is that is colorized by an artist named Jose Osio... Actually another one of this series "The Hopewell Rocks" issued in 2004 it's not holographic either (just gold plated silver). I think I will only buy the Northern Lights next. For the Iceberg coin, the same book it says that it was colorized by the Royal Canadian Mint staff.
