Thanks to everyone for providing their input and links. I am still learning all the ins and outs of the hobby, but it's nice to have a place like this to share and care.

Seems you didn't like our call on your coin, so why ask us? No RPM, sorry.

Just a die chip on the date as noted, and not an RPM.

You people need to start reading posts before responding. Coop nailed the 1mm10. And it would have to have been a strong clash to involve the devices. Maybe a gouge?

John1 just missed it because of the damage on the lower serif. If it were not for the damage, John1 would have spotted it as well. I just happened to look into the center of the mintmark and spotted it. Easy to do, when the damage ifs so strong.

Cujohn makes a good point about people needing to read posts more carefully and look more closely at the images. It's easy to be right 99% of the time by simply saying "no, MD" in every thread, but the false negative rate is often higher than it should be.

Also, are you a fly fisher, Cujohn? Cujohn = copper john?

IMHO, I'm leaning towards a gouge or opaque substance (glue?) on the coin? Something seems to be in the "elbow" of the N directly below as well.

Try soaking in acetone to see if it comes off.

I am not soaking nothing in acetone. That's a rookie mistake. Lol

Why are you opposed to soaking it in acetone?... pretty much the only form of coin cleaning that is universally accepted as non harmful to coins by virtually all experts.

Yeah, I am not a fan of cleaning coins. It's too risky. Acetone can also make your coins look ugly in a clean way. Not my thing.

Sam coin not a fly fisherman, just worked with copper in my job for 45 years. Bigwho808 pure acetone will not harm coins in any way.

If you are going to experiment on a coin, use junk coins from circulation. That way you don't mess up and turn a $100 coin into face value.
