Nice find, I still haven't found a double spine or bud, I have a few that look like priming Dados but can't photo them yet without screen shots.

Got a nice BU one coming your way... let us know here what you think of it.

SPP-Ottawa, I am really looking forward to being able to examine a BU example of this variety and sharing it with the members here, it has been a tough one to find and your offer for sending a BU example was very generous, thank you for the opportunity!

Wrekkdd & Coinman91
Thank you, gentlemen.

It took me a while to start finding them but once I got a fairly good connection to get small cents they did start popping up now and again, this particular one though is tough.

@daveovington, double spine refers to the double die variety. If you look closely to the right of the bud you can see an extra spine.

UPDATE

Shoutout to SPP-Ottawa for the gorgeous 1964 Extra Spine example, this is one variety I have not had the chance to actually examine in hand and as stated previously, most of the photos online are not clear enough to make out the extra spine so I was very excited when I received this in the mail.

Below are close-ups of the example SPP=Ottawa was kind enough to send me.

For those who might not notice right away, this is not the same as the original 1964 I had made this post about, from what I can tell, it is a completely new variant of the extra spine.

Daveovington, Wrekkdd is correct, you will see that there is an extra spine (or branch) protruding from the bud in the first photo that this post was originally made for.

When searching the 1964 cents keep an eye on the bud area, this is typically where you will find doubled design details (the bud or spine).

Fourmack,

I think you just found a 3rd variant, It is an extra spine but it is also different compared to the two I posted, nice find!

Any idea how Christian Houle documents these in his 1-cent book? I don't have the book handy at the moment.

Most welcome, as you can tell, those were also struck with fresh dies, with the frosting on the devices. I believe the obverse has a strong cameo also.

Also, that one I sent you, differs from the one I have in my PCGS Showcase Set on small cent varieties (which is also graded PCGS MS-66 Red):

This one looks similar to the version fourmack posted.
