This diplomatic immunity crap was simply explained by my parents to me. That I don't have to worry about my "coins being taken when I go back to the US."

Given that your parents are only concerned that your coins will be taken, rather than that you are flouting local laws, I am not surprised that you have no sense of morality.

It isn't my job to know those laws. It's my parents job, and it's their job to tell me those laws when I need to hear them.

But you know these laws well enough to claim diplomatic immunity. It is the entitlement of people who feel laws don't apply to them that makes them hated throughout the world. Here we have an entitled brat who is almost an adult, feigning ignorance about the laws.

You clearly have no empathy, you cannot imagine a perspective other than your own. The term "diplomatic immunity" in itself might not even be the correct term, perhaps I misused it. All I know is that I don't have to pay taxes on the things we take with us.

I have a better understanding on the world, and treat every individual with respect no matter their ethnicity, background, or religious stance. I have grown as a person because of this lifestyle, and I will not have some idiotic, disrespectful, close minded bigot tell me otherwise. You sir, are the entitled one. You have a superiority complex. You comparing me to the people that made such laws in itself shows your ridiculousness. You have no pathos, nor ethos in this situation. You are full of yourself.

You have some in depth hate for diplomats, one that I cannot understand, nor will I attempt to understand it. It's up to you to get that hate sorted out, but don't take it out on others. It simply is the wrong thing to do.

I have told you to leave this topic alone, yet your lack of maturity has pulled you back to it, you feel the need to feed your ego by proving a teenager wrong. You have failed.

So, I will say this once more, back off. Back off now. This discussion is over, you have your opinion, I have mine. Another word of this and I will get Bobby involved, and I'm sure he'd be fine with issuing us both punishments, which I am fine with as long as it puts you in your place.

I have a lot of friends at the State Dept. Many of them collect coins during their travels. They don't abuse their privilege like you do.

Your sense of entitlement is risible.

Bobby has been emailed. He, or the other staff will now handle this matter.

I wasn't aware that calling out people with no morals made me a bigot.

Not sure that calling someone a bigot is congruous with your statement in the sentence before where you claim that you "treat every individual with respect."

You should get your story straight before you post things that make no sense.

I have no empathy for entitled people who abuse the privilege of diplomatic immunity granted by our government, to help the work of diplomats abroad, in order to smuggle things out of foreign countries for personal gain.

I'll admit that was quite rude and ironic for me to say. I apologize, you managed to successfully tip my frustration over the edge.

And you are very much exaggerating. As I said, perhaps the term diplomatic immunity was used incorrectly by me. You are quite like the media nowadays. I misuse a word, and it becomes your entire argument.

There isn't personal gain, and you clearly don't understand the fundamentals of diplomatic work. My parents have accomplished, and helped a ridiculous amount of people. So be quiet. They decided to live in a country that was prone to bombs going off 100 meters from our housing, so you can't even begin to comprehend their commitment.

I may be young, and sometimes I can be foolish and blind, perhaps I misunderstand how international fundamentals work, but I still am a human being with emotion and development. So please, for the love of God leave me alone!

Look, it's not my goal to torment you and you seem like a respectful, nice enough young man other than in the exchanges in this thread. But diplomatic immunity, which you are privileged to enjoy, is meant to protect diplomats from abuses from host countries. It is not a get-out-of-jail-for-free card and carte blanche for diplomats and their families to do whatever they want, in contravention of local laws, even though many U.S. and foreign diplomats treat this privilege in this way all over the world. Hopefully you will reflect on this and choose to act lawfully in your host countries and choose not take coins out of the country when it is against the law there, even if you can.

Fair enough. I've had my fair share of arguments or disagreements, but nothing to this magnitude online, much less the forum. I took all of what you said as a direct personal attack, and incorrectly felt the need to combat it. Perhaps we could've worded both our statements in a more productive manner.

I will look into the laws guiding coinage within Oman. Thank you for explaining the term "diplomatic immunity." I would appreciate it if this could be the end of this topic, as it has taken a mental toll on me, and nothing really positive has arisen from it. Hopefully you agree.

I am very glad that you were able to sort this out without intervention. Well done all.
