The 2009 Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollars are now on sale! These commemorative coins celebrate the life and legacy of one of America's greatest leaders. The obverse bears an image of President Lincoln, while the reverse features the immortal words Lincoln spoke at Gettysburg—the last 43 words of his most famous speech—inscribed within a laurel wreath. The Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollar is available in silver, and is offered in both proof and uncirculated conditions.

LOL jbuck. My wife tells me that I am very LITERAL. So when I read "Lincoln Halves", the last Lincoln Half I can remember is from 1918. If I were to assume he meant the 2009 Lincoln Dollars and he didn't, someone would say, "But he said LINCOLN HALVES."

So true! But I freely admit, my brain did not see where he said "halves" until you pointed it out! What is even funnier is that he said it and then you quoted it, but I still missed it!  Tim, can you set the record straight for us? |

Great Britain is releasing a penny commemorating an American president?!?!?  This is un"president"ed. Or do you mean the new 2009 Lincoln Cent? I have heard of those... |

Went by my bank and asked if they had them yet. Was told they may not get any and didn't know if they would. Asked about ordering a box and was told they just order by the box but they could not promise what would come other than a box of cents and they had no way of just asking for new ones. Guess I'll just have to wait til they float in and search rolls.

Yeah guys I foolishly called them "Halves". I am getting old and my brain don't work so good no more What will call them when I am 50. No but seriously. I was working and told her to get me one when they went on sale at noon. Got home and she said she had ordered two of them for me. This same woman got me a direct ship subscription to the ASE Proofs for our anniversary, which I stated in an earlier post. I really am lucky to have her.  |

I noticed my comment regarding the penny vs cent was quoted in another thread as being "snobbish" and "snide" or that it would "alienate" new collectors. It was not meant to be so, merely a bit of humour/sarcasm. I was actually making fun of the debate, not the original poster... |
