I saw several different prices nearing the fifteen dollar mark for the eagles...........and this was LAST year when silver was 8 bucks......most of the prices I have seen in the coin mags are $12.50 and up.......and that does not include S&H charges........so sixteen is not an unreasonable price........but you may be able to find a better bargain by careful shopping!.......Good Luck!

This is why I hate seeing the price of silver go up. More people want silver and sellers starting probing for higher prices--which I can see. Buyers probe for lower prices when interest drops off of something so why shouldn't sellers to the same when prices go up? But it's still aggrevating. I used to buy art bars on ebay usually for 2 or 3 dollars over spot and $2 shipping. Now it's not unusual to see a common bar selling for double spot. And suddenly sellers think it takes $4 shipping even though the bar still only weighs 1 ounce.

Thanks everyone for the input. I did feel $16 was higher then it should have been. It does make it a little harder to decide what to buy now that silver seems to be a lot higher.

On the other hand.......... the silver I bought last year is worth a little more, Longnine, we all want it both ways, although since I will probably never sell anything I collect, buying cheap is really all that matters!

Crystalk, e-mail sent. Thank you.

Margaret

ASE from the mint are different since they are proof strike and are always a higher price. the ones we are talking about are UNC ones and are typicaly lower. so that is why yours from the mint is so much more. those ones at coin shop whould be the same price you paid.

Tomorrow I will check my pawn shop and see the price they have on it. They are usually stocked with ASE from many years so they should have 2006. ill let you know tomorrow. They are usually at 10$ even so might be lucky lol.

Demonboy279 if you find any Eagles, any DATE at the $10.00 level you had better buy a bunch. Last weekend my very conservative dealer had 2006 Eagles at $12.50 and ALL the other dates were $13.00 or higher. The 1994 is also starting to move upward but not near the value of the 1996. The days of cheap old Eagles are over!

Id love to buy a bunch but my pocket just cant handle it if you know what I mean. The prices are usually 10$ and the people dont know jack about coins. I bought a barber half from the place and I had to tell them what it was. They are mainly a pawn/gun shop and have a very small section for coins which is mainly ASE and the gold eagles. Naturally I get what I can cuz I'm attracted to silver

Ah, sounds like you have a great place to pick up bargains! Usually when someone doesn't know about real coin value you find just the opposite (antique malls and such) with prices through the roof!

Oh sure Crystalk, NOW you mention the Euro, LOL. I already mailed the check!!!! I do find a lot of the other countries coins very attractive but have never decided on which ones I would really like. I could probably be talked into one though!

Thanks again!

I will keep you in mind when those extra's roll in!!! Actually the prices of the unc. silver euro coins, from many countries are unbelievably low compared to the prices we MUST pay to get silver commemoratives here in the states. On the average I will pay $6.20 to $6.50 for $5 euro and $12.40 to $13 for $10 euro silver coins. They are far more than that by the time they reach U.S. and Canadian dealers. Germany, the Netherlands and Austria are very collector "friendly" while many of the other euro nations are very high priced. The reason I have many extras is I never refuse any coin offered by any of my contacts in Europe. They spend their hard earned money on coins for me and I ACCEPT everything they offer and have always found a good home right here in the U.S. for those I don't need. Some of them have so much eye appeal it is hard to pass them on but I force myself to keep JUST ONE of each commemorative that I receive. The rest of them are passed on at cost to quite a few forum members!

I have been a lucky recipient of Euro coins from Terry, and look forward to his next shipment.

Also, I'll be in Europe next month, and will have to see what I can pick up there.
