I take the middle ground on toning.

Some are beautiful, others aren't.

Toning can be nice or ugly but I don't think it makes a coin worth more as some might have you believe.

I think that the extremely vibrant beautiful toning should have a slight premium just do to the fact that with anything else fish homes cars etc the more beautiful the more expensive. everyone has their own opinions and naturally everyone wont feel the same. It dont really matter to me though with or without the premium I still cant afford them several hundred or thousand dollar coins lol.
And yes Gary I agree with you 100% there are many ugly toned coins out there. Theres more ugly than pretty ones if you ask me. The AT coins just kill me though. You would think people would have some dignity or respect or something and just leave them the way they are.

It looks like the coin is being stored in a 2x2. Will that stop it from toning more? Would your coin tone more if it was in contact with the air?

It is currently residing in an NGC holder. Yes it would tone more if in contact with the air but as of yet the coin is stillin the mail.

I have found that toning can enhance an otherwise plain coin. I have never been a fan of US modern coinage, but coins like your dime and some Washington quarters that I've seen look very attractive with natural toning.

I also am not a fan of artificial toning. Overall, my opinion on toned coins depends on the coin. I've seen some that were gorgeous and some that were just plain ugly.

That's a fine looking coin! Don't be too concerned about what other people think when it comes to toned coins (or circulated coins for that matter.) An authentic life, whether it in coins or people, is a real life and better than a facade. If I wanted to collect facades I could just go out and buy a Brittney Spears magazines. It's much cheaper.

Im not concerned with what everyone else likes I collect what appeals to me. I just dont like the hastle from the back in forth bout good n bad ive heard it all and aint interested in the bad stuff people think about them. If they dont like them they dont have to collect them. More for me lol. It gets old hearing the same stuff all the time when its something the people dont pay there money on so they dont need to go off about it.Im sure youve all heard the stuff about them and youll agree it gets old.
Thanks everyone for complimenting my dime. I find it rather beautiful. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Its nice to know I'm not alone on this board when it comes to toning.

It just comes down to "buy what you like"! If you don't like toned coins, leave them- someone else will come along who thinks they're the neatest thing around. I happen to like most toned coins, emphasis on most...

I will not pay more for a toned coin.
Whether or not it has toning, I do not care (unless it is a unattractive tone, then I won't touch it). It is the coin itself that I care about.

I like attractively toned coins. I prefer natural of course, but I have seen some real beauties that were manmade.
