had you played casino nickel slot machines during that period, you'd know most of the nickels there looked like this one

I agree with above, I think it may have been a slot machine coin at one time before it found it's way into circulation.

This coin looks like its survived a Rock and Roll life. (Possibly literal rocks/sand) "A Keith Richards Life?" Even the slightest damage can remove a coin from being a collectable.

long ago a collector (not here) suggested going to a casino because the slots had tons of coins to look through, so I tried it, and found most coins there were all beat to heck from repeatedly slamming into each other as they ejected from the machines

Today, they use cards so the coins get a rest there. When I would go to a Casino, I would buy cents from them, they had spares. (You never know what might be in the rolls if someone was cashing something in. But never found special though)

Keep trying Pris...you'll find one...I was just looking in a 1979 mint set I picked up...found a die chip in the "D" mm of the SBA.
