This looks like a professionally treated coin. There was a seller on ebay that does this and if he didn't tell you he did it, some of them you'd think were original.

A good example for how clash can mimic a double profile (Our own Fortcollins did a great explanation on this awhile back.) See if you can see the ghostly remains of E PLURIBUS UNUM under the chin from clash.

Well I'll attempt to get some more specs on this one since there was no reply to the 14-S in question.
What's the weight on this one? This one does not look original to me either. I'd side with Jerrypicker on the acid treated if it comes in under weight. Similar issues as you're 14-S. The recessed area surrounding the Buffalo are a concern, as they were on the other. Also, the mushiness of the MD is a red flag. It should appear more shelf like with a more defined edge. Yours appears more rounded/blended into the devices which could mean acid treatment that removed. Lack of metal flow lines is also a concern. Be real curious to know the weight.

Looks too grainy IMO. Looks like a copy and hope I'm wrong. Good luck if sending to TPG.

After seeing all 3 of them (both 1913-s and the 1924-s) for sale on FB (better pics there) I can say with certainty all 3 coins are copies. Are those yours that are for sale on FB?

@Jerry Picker - That is not the seller of this coin. Below are the listings for this and another associated sale - the seller is well reviewed. I have purchased from him in the past and have always been happy. https://www.ebay.com/itm/295134224766https://www.ebay.com/itm/295191578804I have also purchased from the seller you linked - you can't miss him on the bay if you are looking at Buffalo nickels. I am very familiar with his pickling and consequent results. These coins look nothing like this seller's products. @Ty2020b - The coins are currently in my safe deposit box and I will pull these out to weigh and maybe re-image in the next few weeks. Markets have been a little hectic and things have been busy at work. I've also been buying lots of things as inflation have brought asset prices down considerably. Many things that have not been for sale for a long time have been coming to market. @JTCC - from what I remember from the examination I did when I received the coins, the surfaces looked great and didn't get the sense that the coin was acid treated. Will take another look when I get them back in hand. @bandsdean - Hey bd, it's been a little while. How have you been? I don't have these coins for sale on FB or anywhere. I don't sell anything on FB. No plans to send to TPG. It is a little weird how nice I remember that the coins looked in hand and how they look in the images. Also remember that the images didn't look as good as the coin in hand - that likely speaks to my lack of imaging skills. I can see why you would be concerned but I don't really have any concerns. Sorry for the delayed responses. Will try to keep more up to date.

Thanks @NS, look forward to getting more specs. I remember watching one of these sellers coins for sale, a 26-S, a few weeks back. Looked very suspect like these others. The listing mysteriously disappeared after a few days of the auction starting, along with several other buffalos they had listed . Halfway tempted to purchase one just to get it in hand and see what's going on with them.

Over the weekend I retrieved these coins, the 1913s t2 and 1914s from the safe deposit box and weighed this coin. This one was 4.53 grams which is outside any reasonable tolerance around the 5 gram specification. Contacted the seller and he agreed to refund my money. Seller was great and sped the refund even though it had been close to 2 months since the purchase. Thanks to all for your help!

Good to hear he was willing to work with you there . Would be nice to add these to my blacklist portion of my binder for reference, but don't see any way to purchase them via ebay from the seller, at a reasonable, low price of course.
