AU55. There is slight wear showing on the reverse

You need to leave these up longer before the reveal so everyone gets a chance to offer an opinion.
This one looks MS to me.

Put me in the MS-63 camp as well.

I think MS-63 is spot on. Reverse flatness is due to a weak strike. Light chatter on the obverse, as well as the reverse high points and fields. Luster is slightly subdued, primarily on the reverse. AU58 would be a NGC confusing strike weakness with wear, and MS64 would be a bit generous with the subdued luster and reverse field marks, IMO.

Marks that can be seen on the center of the second feather and hair above the braid are planchet marks not removed from strike. Same goes for the marks on the buffalos left leg and and shoulder.

i disagree with NGC on this one.

i think the worst case PCGS would send it back as 58 but then you'll know the exact grade. at 58 PCGS shows it as a $175 coin. everyone here is seeing the coin as 63 so if it comes back at 63 you're looking at a $400 coin. I think its worth a shot on this one and I'm not big on slabbing

I compare some of my au58 coins to ms63 and 64 and sometimes they look better. I have the whole year set (one per year mostly P mint) in au58 to ms66 now

total agree with this comment. I dont know how they pick who is going to grade which coin but if you just happen to get someone thats not well versed in these and the mint issues that occurred in a specific year, this is what you end of with and I'm betting this is the case here

an amateur looking at this coin would see the should and head and automatically say AU
