Nice, Erscolo! Can your share pics of some of these beauties?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Quote:I picked up a complete set of silver and clad proof Eisenhower dollars, ten of them, 1971-1977 back n 2019, all PCGS graded PR69 DCAM. I then picked up the 1978 clad issue to complete the set. Outstanding!

I've had to be careful, though, checking the Ikes I order. Silver Ikes weigh 24.2 grams, clad ones 22.3 g. Weight and the silver sheen of the coin edge will separate them every time. I've had to request a refund on the last 3 out of 5 ordered because people selling them don't know the difference between a silver and clad proof.

Ikes are not very hot in the Numismatic markets right now. I have them too though. I would hold on to them and see what happens down the road. They are nice coins to collect- in my not so humble opinion.

I was told that a major reason for the proofs in OGP become foggy is because they spent a lot of time in the trunks of cars traveling from show to show during the 80's and 90's. You can imagine the heat of summer, humidity, and off gassing of the plastic lenses.

I believe that is correct. I know it has been posted here before, like on the first page.

Hmmm, I have a few I bought from the mint with my paper route money back in the 1970s. Will have to see how they look.

my dealer would sell them to me by the 100s for $5 if I bought them all. Needless to say I bought TONS of them. I put them up somewhere, not sure where they ended up but I still have them, somewhere.
