Just received my proof Lincoln dollar today. Pretty awesome looking coin. Now I have to decide whether to crack it out of the mint plastic and put it in my 7070, or just cache it as is.

hi okie,i think keeping the coin in the original mint holder will maintain the collector value becuase it is best protectected that way.some have had commems.graded and slabbed but really I think that is gimmicky at best becuase they all get a grade prf69 or prf70 so what is the point? some might pay a premium for a prf70 coin but then will it really be worth more just becuase.i think not becuase the population of the coin in higher grade will be large in number.in my opinion I would just preserve the way the coin came with the box and coa,in that manner it would be worth more later.

Some of my Lincoln's finally showed up today! The proofs all look great and the unc.s are also very nice. Hopefully my others will show up some time. I'm still waiting on my UHR though.

Hi Meckl9,I just got back From California on business sorry I could not reply sooner. The Lincoln commems. are a great looking coin in the proof but I have not seen the uncirculated can you post an image of the uncirc.? Also have you found any mint error on your coins? One of my Lincoln proofs has what appears to be a die strike through at the top of Lincolns ear but then also upon further examination under higher magnification it looks like it has some die crud in the indent. Some of my friends and I have been debating whether or not it is really a strike through and I do not like removing coins from the mint holder.Have you heard of anyone else with the same dilema involving this coin?

Dayvamp, it would be helpful if you could post a better picture...that shows the detail around the ear better. You can even shoot through a magnifying glass or a loupe to get more detail.
