WOW, 8 replies. This Canadian forum has really come alive eh! Well it came back as 64 RB, I feel it should have been 65 but that's kinda where they seperate the big dogs. I thought it was a 65 and was hoping for that, a common date like this isn't worth sending in unless you've got a real dog.

I thought 64 for ICCS, but where it was PCGS I thought they may have gone higher ... guess not. It's a nice coin though!

WOW Quite a beauty you got there. Question: Why did you use PCGS instead of ICCS? Being from Canada and all?

Thanks guys. I'm not a big fan of ICCS. I'm sure I'll get flames for this, but if ICCS switched their holders over to the hard plastic like the top 3 in the states I would switch over. I'm not a big fan of how the coins slide around inside the ICCS holders.

One more thing about ICCS... Why don't they have a website with general information about their services?

Yes definitley that too. I quite frequently check the latest graded coins on PCGS and also check pop reports. The online price guides are usually substansially high. In some cases double what the latest auction prices are. But pop reports is a huge contribution to what I purchase for flip buys or for investments.

Any serious Canadian collectors I know consider a PCGS as step down from ICCS ... not a jab at PCGS, just that an MS-65 from ICCS will sell more than PCGS with Canadian coins. I do wish they had a website though...

Yes. That is definitley true. They do generate a higher premium. Although, let's keep in mind you guys all pegged this as an MS65 ish and PCGS gave it a 64. They get a worse rep then they deserve. I have seen the same coin resubmitted to pcgs 3 times with grades ranging from AU 55 to MS 62. I'm not necessarily standing up for PCGS but their holders seem more logical to me and when the leading online auction site tells you to label a coin as raw before you label it as graded by ICCS, I would rather have coins that more people will find if I end up selling.

I certainly didn't mean to knock PCGS ... they are the top. It's just that for Canadian, I'd prefer ICCS. I have a 1939 25 cent piece ICCS MS-65 ... gorgeous coin, but it probably wouldn't grade higher with PCGS ... although I'm no expert at all when it comes to MS grading.
