1914 Barber Half Dollar

Solid F-12.

I'm thinking that PCGS is a bit more lenient on the Barber halves. I'm going to go with an F-12 although it doesn't really fall within the parameters for an F-12 (slightly less actually). What did PCGS do? Tell me they didn't grade it in the G-6 category! Higher than an F-12 seems it would be too much.

This nearly full laurel and weak band under liberty hint at a near VF-20 obverse but due ( my opionion only not being sarcastic) to the entrenched notion of older publishing coin experts "its gotta have full liberty" etc coins like this frequently were given VG10 by PCGS and NGC and especially ANACS.
Times have changed grading standards have changed coins like this are consistently graded as F-15 and I feel rightly so the coin has it all what more could any barber enthusiast hope to find hidden away in some old 1988 holder a VG-8 with 6 letters? those days are over people have figured out 80% of better date original Halfs in F-15 display some weakness in Liberty and those F-15's with full laurels full Libertys and weak but full band are likely cracked out and resubmitted for the VF-20. CAC coins are old school standards full everything but even Bowers generally states "some Barbers in Fine will show bottoms of some letters in Liberty weak or even missing, yet buyers still demand a full Liberty". Well that was 30 years ago and now buyers are not demanding full liberty so what's changed? The Market, the grading standards.
That was in I think 1991? 30 years ago - folks look closely at the F-15s slabbed by TPG's at GC, Heritage, DLRC, ebay and like it or not majority F-15 Barbers show weakness in Liberty. If that coin was in a VG-10 holder it wouldn't stop me from paying F-15 money if I wanted it.
This is not a post attacking anyone its just my opinion and its not worth much but I buy alot of these and coins like this are tough to locate and good luck finding full letters F-15 better dates.

F12 was my first thought, and the photograde F12 looks like a near match to this coin. Yours has a bit more hair curl in front of the ear and less flat above the forehead, so it might make F15. I agree that we shouldn't fixate so much on Liberty and look at the whole coin, as there can be localized wear.

PCGS called this VG-10. This coin has more there than many slabbed F-12's I have been looking at.

I definitely think it is.
