About Fame in medals, I don't think I ever shared mine of the Exposition Universelle de Paris, 1867 It is one of the smaller side ones. I know it was rubbed in the reverse, I did it. Was very, very dirty when I got it.

I only have one medal from the 1939-40 World Fair, which I think is quite a common type. More interesting is the second medal, produced by the Medallic Art Company of New York, and sold at the New York World Fair to raise funds for aid to occupied Czechoslovakia. I find the contrasting world views between USA and Europe at this critical time in world history fascinating! Cheers Simon

Just realized that I've never posted this encased 1943 Mercury dime from the 1964 New York World's Fair.

As I'm starting a collection of 1893 Columbian Expo elongated coins, it occurred to me - has anyone seen a pressed version of the 1893 Columbian Expo Half Dollar? (like someone purchased the half dollar at the fair, and then immediately decided to smash it?)

to the CCF, binarysunrise_2! I've never seen elongated / smashed Columbian half dollars. I imagine that they wouldn't fit into the penny smasher.

I think they smashed most anything they could find at that fair - I've seen a picture of an elognated 1877 Trade dollar smashed at the fair. Would the Expo half-dollar have been about the same size?
