These things are hard to find! I haven't seen any in circulation at all! The only 2006 coinage I have seen thus far are just the quarters and cents. Nothing else.

Eeek! That is awful. I imagine these nickels will be worn down easily.

Since the early 90's the steps have not really been much of an issue !!Most Nickles beyond that point have full steps albeit to find one without some type of damage on them can be a little tough .

The new series nickles, buff's, OIV,and now the revised Monticello will have as a target trying to find coins that are not dinged up in the very large fields !!!and extremely large High relief bust !!

This has been a real factor in the pops for high grade,, and will continue to be a problem with this new issue.

ZakGold is right;these nickels out of the roll are very ugly. I guess the only pretty ones will be the proofs. congress should mandate quality control on the mints.May be G.W. can out source the production to a third world country!

I would have rather seen the Bison continue on instead of Monticello.

A couple things.

I don't like the portrait either, but I have seen portraits of TJ in history books, and at least one of them is very similar to the one on the nickel. The bad thing about it is, I would think, it won't wear well. I can't imagine what it will look like after having been in circulation for a few years.

Secondly, I stopped by two banks today, and asked for the nickels. At both banks, there were none. Somebody hoarding?

This week I pick up 2 of the new nickles and 1 roll of the NV quarter. Some of the nickles look like someone was grinding on them, about 15 had the die break error on the left side of monticello. In all only found one that nice, what are they doing at the mint pumping out junk

Nickel just seems to be too hard of a metal to be stamped. Perhaps something else could be used?

They seem to be coming up fairly frequently in change here in the LA area. I only ever seem to see "D"s though, hardly ever any "P"s.

I have gotten several in change. I received one a Wal-mart, one from the local grocery store, and one when I cashed a check at the local bank!
