Does sliding the sleeve scratch the coin?

If the album is in good shape, stick with it!

For what it is worth, my two oldest Dansco albums turn 40 next year. Most of the others are in the 30s. Take care of your albums and they will take care of your coins.

For those which can be more valuable when in high grade or even just because they are no longer found in circulation, I'd probably try an intercept shield album since it might help protect the copper. Others like dansco are usually fine as well.

The typical folders are fine for your run of the mill finds from circulation back then but just keep in mind that these are not very protective for coins that may have some value to them or want to keep their color (red). Things like humidity, temperature, air pollution etc will do a number of things to them over a long number of years especially copper coins which are a bit harder to store than others.

Thanks for the suggestion and link, datadragon. Those Dansco folders look really nice. Looks to be the same system as the old Whitman I've got with the plastic sleeves, but the quality looks a little better.

Yes around here many are big fans of Dansco albums quality. I mention the Intercept shield albums mainly for copper and generally for coins that people are trying to keep the color or condition of copper over long periods.

OK, I'm back. Started transferring coins and I really have to force them into the Dansco. I'm afraid I'm putting a rub on the coins trying to get them into the holes. Is this typical?

So why is it so hard to put the coins in. It's like the holes are a bit too small. Lot of force required.

Great you got the best album money can buy, but now you 'should' also get the sleeve the album slides into for maximum protection.

I see you have a separate topic for that question...
