Frank, see the following articles. In short, they are highly sought after counterfeit nickels that sell for hundreds on ebay.

Hi Wow thanks, I had no idea. I am more a Lincoln Cent DDO man. I looked at some on E bay. Mine is up now. How much is the coin worth? I have it up for $299 bid or best offer. Does that sound right? I am watching one that is at $201 39 bids with 7hr left to go and about the same condition. Let me know and Thanks Frank B.

Hi, when I lived in Sardis MS. A man who has a jewelry shop and buys / sells silver gave me about 6 nickels for free after buying some War Nickels from him. This is one of them. Dose the counterfeit nickels have silver in them? Let me know and thanks, Frank B.

I don't believe that the Hennings have silver in them - it would go against the reason to counterfeit them in the first place.

Hi, This one sure looks and sounds like 35% silver but I could be wrong.

Totally cool! My first thought from the title was "Henning nickel."

I'd love to have one of these. Pop it in a 2x2 for protection and STOP bouncing it on the furniture. These are really collectable and highly sought after.

I live in New Jersey and have always wanted to take a trip to the river where Henning dumped a quarter of a million of his counterfeits. It's not much of chance of finding one, but I'd sure be excited every time the metal detector beeped at me!

Great find!

Hi, I did. Now I know what I have.. It is on E bay now. Can any one tell me how to know if my 1946 is 35% silver? 4.9 Grams. I think it is. From the post today I know not to try the water test. Thanks, Frank B

Lol wow, this is the first legit henning nickel I've seen posted on here, so kind of funny that you didn't even know what it was, given how many false-alarm posts we get from people who do know but are mistaken.

Hi, yes like I said I am a doubled die man but I am learning about things like this coin. Also getting into dollar bills #'s ect I was hopping for an off metal error coin but I will take a $200 to $400 coin. I got this coin for free. Did you see my post on Lincoln 1861 medal? it is a DDR and BU.

I certainly wouldn't worry about any possible silver content here (which it doesn't) The value of a '44 Henning FAR exceeds any silver it would have (even if it were .999% pure silver.

I recently thought I had a silver 1946 nickel and it was verified by a jewelry store but I had it tested with the XRF gun and found it wasnt. Bring it to someone with a XRF
