Edge image provided as requested, is there anything in particular that edge images provide to authenticate a curved clip?

IMO.... almost looks like a double clip to me, considering on the reverse under the word DOLLAR appears to be slightly sheered.

What sort of diabolical genius would manufacture a fake clipped planchet quarter and then spend it for face value?

I can't really help, like I said not my area. The edge pic does not look normal and on the clip, each end of the clip is a place for iding a real clip. There is a thread on iding clips, but I could not find it.

It looks good to me. Some large clips will show no blakesly effect. The weakness on the opposite side of the clip is expected.

Also I would grade it Ms or AU58 and worth $30 or so.

@ surfacewave:

When I ask you to see the side it is to be sure it is legitim or not.

Your coin it is legitim. The sides allways will show the trases of the blank cut Dies and after mill and strike the side will show the molecular structur of the main metal involved.

This it is a nice big clip for the quarters.

I'm a little late to the party. I'm going against the grain here. I think it's a man-made error. It has the Blakesley effect but the devices around the clip are not weakening like they should be. They should not be struck up as crisp as they are. They should be more like the devices on the reverse at the Blakesley.

That is the Blakesly effect. It is stronger on the Rev. than the Obv.

Based on the Blakesly effect being evident on both sides I agree it is a clip.

Me I say it is legitim.

CU, your strongest is on those clips the Cents. The clad is different each one from small, to medium and to big ones. No man-made clip will push the clad on the side. This push down is done first on the blanks
