Looks like VG-8 to me also, comparing it to PCGS photo grades.

VG8 for me as well. Lots of leaf detail left. Close to VG10 actually if you go by Photograde.

Just old-fashioned, I guess. Just one clear letter of Liberty showing - would never have been graded VG when I was a kid.

Things have changed Frog. I use to be able to grade, now I've got to look at PCGS photos. The older I get the less I know.

G details, reverse damage (scraped)

I can't go above G with no letters of LIBERTY visible.

OK, so here's a proposition: Send this in to either PCGS or NGC for grading, and if it comes back VG straight, I will remburse your fees in full for a regular submission. Sincere offer.

Hello Coinfrog! Yours sounds like a solid proposition! I'd take you up on your offer but for the fact that I'm in Europe and not a member of PCGS/NGC. Would need to find a dealer who's a member.. not sure there are many nearby. So easier said than done!

Thank you!!

I based my VG on Photograde and also Blowers, which says "a net of three letters must be readable." I believe that is traditional grading. I see parts of L and TY. Textbook VG to my eyes. Would be interesting to see what a TPG says but the coin is really not worth the expense.
