I would also grade it VG-08. I agree that this coin was lightly cleaned long ago (which is true of 99% of all bust coinage), but I disagree about its severity --- in my opinion it deserves a straight grade based on that factor. However, the wear is uneven, and my guess is that the coin is very slightly bent. Without seeing it in person, it's impossible to tell if that is bad enough to warrant a details designation. Overall, my guess would still be a straight grade.

Just makes VG. I'm not knowledgeable enough about these coins to determine anything else, so I'll defer to NS's judgment there.

first thanks for posting in hand and TV photos. I actually think the in-hand photos show the coin better here. I'm seeing more sharpness in those than the TV shots
nice detail NS. I had it at VG8/10 details

I'll say VG.

Thanks for all the guesses and comments. These were the seller's pics and of course the PCGS TrueView. I'll post my pics with the reveal tomorrow.

I see the obverse as F, reverse is VG, so VG-10 seems right. ns may be right about cleaned as well, though these seem to get a pass.

PCGS graded it as a straight VG10. It got a pass on the cleaning. There are no hairlines or other signs of abrasive cleaning so the straight grade is not a surprise. 10 vs 8 is a bit generous. I would have gone VG8 but I'll take the 10. The eye appeal in hand is okay. Thanks for the comments! I got it for $1650 delivered which is a good price to me. I apologize for the sub-par pics. I don't have a good camera set-up.

Exciting to think that this circulated for a long time in the early 1800s. Very nice example.
