Maybe the Feds bailed out the failed banks with 2009 Lincolns and they gave them out as retroactive bonuses? Wait, anyway, there weren't enough minted for them either. With 634,800,000 Birthplace Lincoln Cents totaling only $6,348,000.00 Not even after all four reverses are minted will they have enough to pay one rotten apple's severance pay. Maybe we can find some if we file for unclaimed funds?

Where in the world are they storing 638 million Lincoln Cent pennies. There sure don't seem to be that any out there. And even the ones sold on ebay couldn't account for 1/10 of them. Maybe HSN bought 1/2 of them to get all those MS67s.

That's only about Three Cents for everyone in the USA. Perhaps we will see them when we get our stimulus checks again. Maybe they are the stimulus package?

Well they DRASTICALLY reduced the mintage number of the Philly Lincoln this year (1st P design anyway).......but they need to drastically reduce the mintage numbers of EVERYTHING for the next few years. This could alleviate a good amount of the problem I would think. They Mint too much of everything....no mystery here as to why we can't "get our coins from the banks" like we want.

To those that have actually acquired a 2009 Lincoln Cent, have any of you weighed it or otherwise verified its composition? What if the mint goofed and minted those 634,800,000 on 95% copper planchets and are now in "damage control" mode? Surely I jest. The Mint is not that incompetent, right?

This whole situation is really interesting because the problem varies with who you ask. Several banks told me they have tried and cannot get them from the Fed. Another friend of mine contacted the Fed and was told that banks are not ordering them because of the recession/depression resulting in less demand for coins. Another friend had their bank tell them that they order through Brinks and Brinks won't deliver the new cents. I don't know about you folks but this all sounds like a lot of government BS. Somebody messed up something and is covering their derriere or something more sinister is going on. I am not a conspiracy guy but this could get interesting as it unfolds.

you guys can do what you want , I will not pay more than 1 cent for a new 2009 cent. there just to many out there and they will be in the mint and proof sets.
was at a flea mart saturday and the dealer there had a case of rolls that he was asking $9.00 per roll and he said he could not sell any.

I got 1 2009-D from a roll and thats it so far, and I search about 5 boxes per week. It seems like it took me until about August last year before I started seeing the 2008 cents so I'm not surprised they are not circulating here yet.

~~~Still havn't seen any lincoln log cabbins in circulation or through weekly roll searching. However, I just couldn't take it any more and ordered 3 d- mints, and 3 p- mints from ebay.
I just picked up a fifty dollar bag of circulated cents from a local bank and came up with just over a roll of the log cabin reverse. Some banks have to be getting them.
I asked the same thing at my bank. They said, 'we can order whatever box of coins, but No guarantee they're 2009 new coins. It should be just mixed used coins. No way to order 2009 new coins specifically.'. pretty disappointing...
