Would the knock on the reverse rim or the aberration near the L of Liberty be enough to kick the coin into Details at PCGS? Any thoughts on cleaning or other problems that I haven't noticed?

I doubt it. Only question would be the surfaces and if the coin was cleaned. Photos are a little bright so can't get a true feel if cleaned or not.

I will take a few indirect sunlight images tomorrow. I am reasonably certain that this is the FS-501 inverted mint mark variety. If the surface checks out, it's the first coin that I would consider submitting for grading and attribution. Not saying that's a definite, but the option is on the table.  |

Just look for the "bump" to be opposite the normal orientation. I think yours is indeed inverted.  |

way too much glare to determine surface originality.
XF45 sounds about right. to me the coin looks cleaned. better photos are required to determine that

Hm, disappointing to hear. I had wondered about cleaning since there was a bit of crud atop the R and in the crook of the 2. Still an uncommon variety and a worthy pick for $5.

58 but the obverse has a lot of chatter. I would say it could go either way on whether it is cleaned. I would net it down to 53 based on everything going on in the obverse based on these pictures.

Will acetone dipping result in a Details: Cleaned grade? I thought that acetone was considered an acceptable form on cleaning by the TPGs.
