I try and learn from PCGS Photograde.

I made these from PCGS examples, my coin on the right. I thought this would be a good coin to do this with, I just wanted to share.

@HumblePie PCGS likes to choose examples that look exactly the same

I vote solid F-15.

I'm stuck at F-12, thankfully no one has suggested a VF grade.

I think they do that to keep the small step between each grade visible to the eye. The lower the grade the more of a challenge it is to me.

This coin I find the only detail that is either there or gone, between the F12 /VF30 graded examples, is the forehead/hairline, line. (see photo) The LIBERTY seems to be a hit or miss area. To me the LIBERTY on the VF-20 PCGS example looks better than the PCGS VF-25 example.

I'm at F15. only use photograde as guide to narrow down the grades to possibly 2 or 3. the final grade should take into consideration everything we talk about in this forum. one marker does not make a grade. this is difficult for a new collector to comprehend. subtle details need to be looked at as well as the overall coin.

I'll jump in with the F12 crowd. Nice looking circulation cameo example.

That is true, especially for the Barber series. They tend to wear down unevenly.
