Here ya go, sold listings, even the highest sale price was less than the grading would cost.

Picture is way too small, but likely only a die chip, very common.

I have 6 coins in my pocket right now, 3 have die chips.

Bobby McGhee with a y - Calm down there young fella. too much Folgers in your cup this morning. Thank you for telling me what it is.

Fyi - I'm not getting it graded for die chips, I'm getting it graded for the condition it's in. These sell high in auction if a MS67 or higher due to the scarcity.

I'm new as I stated. I don't know why you're so mad about me spending my money to learn a lesson maybe. Either way, cheer up or cheer out of this conversation

@Mark.... I agree with ijn1944, your coin is a Proof, not a business strike. Unless it grades PF-69, it won't be worth it, just look at the ebay listings. That being said, TPG's need to eat too & your coin would be job security for them. If you do slab it, let us know what it comes back, thanks.

@Markmerr11, you asked for "any feedback":

Quote:
Thank you in advance for any feedback!!

You received exactly that. Highly experienced members provided you with a wealth of knowledgeable, informed opinions (a.k.a. feedback).
In my humble opinion, they did so respectfully.

Your response to bobby131313 may be construed as a disrespectful and inappropriate. To give you the benefit of the doubt, perhaps you did not intend it to be so.

You have the coin in hand and therefore are best able to evaluate it.
We have only your description and posted images to evaluate... and your images are quite poor for evaluation.

Posting the best quality images possible will help others to see what you see in hand, and to provide the best feedback.
There are many posts on this forum describing methods of posting images to the site... here is one:
http://goccf.com/t/422658
There are many more, you can use the search function of the site to find them.
Find what works for you. Preview before posting and you will see what others on the site see... if your image looks very close to what you see in hand, then it will likely be good enough for others to evaluate and provide better feedback.

Given the images you posted, the "feedback" you received is appropriate, and members are merely trying to help you... part of that is to try to save you money on slabbing a coin which will likely cost you more than the coin is worth.

Believe me, or not, the members here are only trying to help.
If your responses to other members' feedback appears to be disrespectful, you may not receive any feedback at all on your posts.

You usually get what you give... or ask for.

Ultimately, it is your decision. You are free to do as you choose. Take what you want and leave the rest.

Respectfully,
Best of luck!

Absolutely nowhere was I mad, I'm trying to educate you and so is everyone else. If you see people helping you as mad, maybe this place isn't for you.

Update!! I went to get it looked at and the legitimate coin appraiser did sleight of hand because I got home and the penny I have now is completely different with none of those markings.

Anyone have suggestions on this one?

well first off you said:

Lets not start with the name calling - to anyone please, it is just not nice you know - AND the one you decided to pick on is the OWNER of this forum. (just saying)

as for the coin you lost, sorry to hear about that, you can go back but it will just turn out to be a you said/he said. Next time keep your eyes on your coin at all times.

I'm sorry that happened too.

To be honest, I would never take my coin to a dealer unless I was 100% positive they knew their stuff.

There are 4 coin shops within an hour of me. I've talked to every one of the owners. Not one one them knows a doubled die from their butt. Seriously. Scary stuff that they are in a position where people trust they know what they're doing.

Yes today was just sarcasm o hope you could read through the context.. I'm from Mass I can't help it.

Chalk it up as a valuable lesson and maybe post it on here so other Green horns don't have to learn like that

Do you have more than one 1972s cent?

Any chance you brought a different one by accident?
They simply aren't valuable enough for someone to consider a switcheroo. If they did, it's a fairly inexpensive lesson.

(BTW- You aren't someone's cousin from Boston are you? Lots of relatives in Mass. myself.)
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
