It does look like a squared off edge. Looking at some graded proofs, they do appear to be similar because of that satin look.

You are showing the rims. I would like to see the edge.

Sorry for the back to back replies, but this is the coin I'm referring to that is graded as a proof. Colors and edge match the coin I have.

The rims don't look right for a proof - I think it is a very well struck business cent struck with new Dies.

I think a pic of the edge will give us the final answer. Collars for proofs are polished.

Sad, proof or not, the ED leaves it worth relatively little.]

If it's indeed a proof, a bit of conservation would bring back some of its glory, and with the colorful toning it would be a desirable coin again.

Still waiting on a picture of the edge of the coin. The "edge" is the part of the coin that you carefully hold it by to avoid putting you fingerprints on the obverse or reverse. It is also referred to as the 3rd side of a coin.

Note that it is improper to hold a proof coin by its edge with bare fingers. Proofs must be held with gloved hands.

Since you brought up the gloves rmpsrpms , is there a certain type better than other, and is there a pair to definitely stay away from? I forget the name, but I use the mini micro-clothes that come with a pair of glasses for instance. I usually have the basic black "Venom Steel" Industrial Nitrile Gloves, Chemical Resistant Disposable Black Gloves, that are Latex-Free and Powder-Free, but I've always been hesitant if these type of gloves would take away from a luster finish or the flawlessness. Cheers.

AFAIK the mint has used white cotton gloves for handling proof coins and medals since the beginning.
