Thank you guys! I said I will go with Rost-Oleum, but I ended up buying the Klean-strip Another question for you. So after I finish clean my coins, what can I do with the rest of acetone? I know is very dangerous so what can I do with that? Sorry! this may be a silly question but and new using this kind of acetone, usually use the remover one for nails with cotton, and after used I just put on the trash can. But don't know what to do with this one.

I would say open windows to get a cross breeze. It does evaporate very quickly.

Pour used acetone down the sink or in the toilet then run the faucet or flush. Keep the quart can when you're done with it and re-fill it from the gallon can you buy next.

Looks like a tail flip if they're both "pure acetone".

I worked with acetone at an industrial level for many years, and while it's a wonderful solvent, it does have its issues. I strongly suggest if you use anything to dab off the excess acetone after soaking, thoroughly wash the cotton ball, towel, or whatever you use you dab the excess, before you throw it away. Acetone can, and will, under the right circumstances, spontaneously combust (I've seen it happen many times). I suggest using a normal cotton ball as a dabber, and flush it immediately after you are finished.

I rotate out my glass jar every month or so. The acetone AND the jar. Otherwise the crud that you dissolve from coins will just get deposited on your next coins when the acetone evaporates.

Food for thought. Coin conservation is one thing. Coin cleaning is something else. Please note Badthad's take on the matter below. http://goccf.com/t/57008#447106Note I've used Sunnyside Acetone in the past with seemingly good results, but be aware some cans labeled ACETONE in big letters can differ. Found one brand at the autoparts place. Read the back for contents, which read as pure Mineral Spirits. Though mineral spirits makes a good paint thinner and cleaner, it is petroleum base. As far as use on potential coins and disposal. Start fresh every-time with a clean vessel and dispose. Do not recommend reuse. Pour it on the weeds in the driveway cracks. Yet to see a weed spontaneous combust, but I guess there can always be a first time. Thanks, Doug.
