Clashes rarely occur on the devices - you find them in the fields where the dies can imprint each other.

I've stared at this for a long time, but somehow roller lines doesn't seem right.

Could this be the result of PMD after the fact! A direct coin hit from another coin? Thanks Bent.

It's easy to imagine the Memorial there, except that on a typical clash it would be upside down and not lined up with that area. Are the lines visible behind the head also parallel with the lines passing through the ear area?

I don't know how to do a overlay or I would. I think that would show more. Bent

Just some kind of stain. Way too far off for a clash. And as stated above, devices are too deep for a clash.

Sure does look like something is hiding in there. This pic shows what Brand was maybe looking for. Maybe play with the lighting (clashes like to hide in the shadows sometimes) and try some black and white pics that John1 suggested. There were a pile of clashes in the 90's.

A lot of the Radical clashes were in the 90's. Some of those are WAAAAAY off.

All you have to do is look in the SEARCH box for info.........

Your coin shows no clashing in the obverse fields nor on the reverse bays.

Yes, that image definitely shows what I was talking about. Given that the parallel lines appear behind the head, across the head, and as far down as the bow tie makes me think it's either roller lines or some kind of contamination streaks that produced plating bubbles. But I am no expert on cents, and definitely not on plated cents.
