Full LIBERTY, I would probably say VF.
But I will have to check it out some more... going by the pic, there seems to be something odd with the surface.

From the Date it looks like Breens 3075 making it a philly coin.
Breens does not list an doubled date for this coin.
But that does not mean that one cannot or does not exist .
the edges of the numbers show some die erosion,, it is possible that the date was repunched.

hmm... I thought I found it in Breen's. Maybe this was a dime? I bought in quite a few Seated Liberty dimes and Half Dimes yesterday, maybe I just got confused. Is there an overdate for an 1835 Dime? |

I dont find any full overdates for the 1835,, there is one variety with a partly repunched 8 Horned 8 . There is an double date for the 1856 Half Dime but it is an O mint, with a closed 6. The open 6 and curved top 5 makes your Half Dime a philly coin. Rick Edited by Metalman

It was an 1835 I found last week without the period after the 5...

Thats ok ,,I just went back and corrected my terminolgy also, I had overdate on the brain !! however the rest of the info was correct !!

Breen 3077, obvious double date, very rare.
Thats what my book is saying.

But now going back, 3077 Says closed 6... this is definately open.

longacre's designs seem to always have double dies yes I had first lloked at 3077 but you are correct it applies to the coin mentioned above it on page 292 (closed 6) your is definatly open /w a curved top on the 5 unless its an O mint by the picture it lloks like it was corroded from being in the earth a while but it does look like you blew the picture up quite a bit so any surface may look like that let us know what you find out

Well here is the full picture...  Half Dime /a obv.jpg" border="0" style='cursor:default' onClick='doimage(this,event)'>  Half Dime /a rev.jpg" border="0" style='cursor:default' onClick='doimage(this,event)'> The coin had a real dark tone to it, and what appears to be surface damage is covered... So I don't know... Is this possibly a variety that is not listed in Breen's? Well I will probably get ahold of the Seated guy at CONECA. |

jdheyne I just wanted to make a comment on your pictures, you are doing a million times better than you were doing on the pictures you are posting. makes it alot easier to see what you are talking about, dont know what you did but keep on doing it because its definately working.  |

It cost me a couple hundred but I am glad that I got it.
I love going through and finding this stuff.
Starting to do a little cherrypicking... that can be pretty fun.
I could have had a couple good picks earlier in the week, two 1857 Flying Eagle's with double dates, but I let the guy know.

Bummer... I just tried emailing the Seated guy at CONECA and both message came back to me.
I tried from two different email accounts, and the message keeps coming back. Reminds me of the song "Return to Sender"
