Impossible to even guess a date yet alone a grade with those teeny dark photos.

I would simply ask the seller what PCGS said.

I appreciate all your comments and apologize for the poor photos. They're all I had to work with. The coin is graded PCGS VG Details Cleaned and is available from a major dealer at $595. From the pictures I thought the detail looked strong for VG and the price seemed pretty good. Thanks and Merry christmas!

Here's the slab images brightened up a bit and showing the dealers original asking price. Really caught my eye for $595 and appears to be lightly cleaned. Merry Christmas!

I think PCGS made the right call here.

Don't see the appeal when you can get a straight one for not that much more money.

It would make a great album coin and save you about 200$ to boot! Especially if you could talk the seller down even more.

Hard pass on a key date problem coin. Spend a little more and get problem free.

I'd crack it out and enjoy it, but the price is a bit high IMO. I have a G-VG details 1877 in my Dansco, it has some light scratches that don't bother me but would keep it out of a straight grade holder.

Difficult to grade from seller's pictures, but from what I can see, looks very attractive.

your photos in the case all too dark to see the surfaces to call cleaned so I have to go with the TPG. maybe it retoned and looks better now. if it does and it was mine i'd consider cracking her out. can you give us a couple photos with a little more lighting which might help. otherwise leave her where she is as it looks like a strong VG

I think it is graded properly. I have a PCGS slab 1877 graded VG and this coin looks better. I paid $599 for mine, so I think the price is ok. I am not sure what the cleaned coin designation does to value.
