Without seeing the other side it could be struck through some piece of metal. I don't see any track marks or gauge extra metal you might see if it was dug in from one direction to another.

Interesting find.

I agree, seeing the other side will help.

To me it looks like a legit strike through. I found this 10 cent with the fragment imbedded, there are similarities like banana shape. If the fragment was still intact it would have been worth more, you have to convince the buyer your coins legit not intentionally done.

The gouge is on the Obverse, not the Reverse.
Looks like a nice struck through as there is no evidence
of any displaced metal. Good find.

Not a Type 4, it is a Type 3 (Large Beads, Blunt 5). It is a strike through error.

Significant, a normal BU Type 3 1965 is worth about 25-cents (or less), but that is easily a CAN$20 error in my opinion. Possibly more, if two guys want to fight over it in an auction.

Not to an error collector. It is definitely a legit strike through error. I'd buy that in a heartbeat if I saw it on ebay or at a coin show.

Main reason I posted that 2008 coin is compare both coins strike throughs raggy jagged edges. That 1965 one is totally legit. Metal fragments are raggy - jaggy and it matches in many ways.

Definitely a nice strike-through. I really like the sharp edges on it too!
