I personally believe that this coin is a legit mint error. Notably, I see a Blakesley Effect, most prominently right above the "E" of EPU.

Obviously I'd defer to the more experienced posters however, as the apparent metal finning over the outline of the "clip" is concerning.

I'll mail them and see if they will provide an edge on picture. This is the way they present all their coins - in a stand straight on of each side. They also provide a pic for both sides from about 30 degrees to the side which does helps at times in seeing details.

It looks to me like the R of AMERICA shows metal flow. If this is the case, then it's a genuine clip.

So no word back from the seller on a pic of the edge but here is an angled pic they provide with their coins.

This coin has been put back up for auction as there were no bids in the original auction. This time there is a picture of the edge. Here is the original post.

Hopefully no one bids on it again. But people have been nuts again lately.

I do have a question on Bicentennial proof Ikes... Is type 1 better to get than type 2? Or doesn't it matter?

You should get 1 of each of the 3 proofs. Better yet, get one of each of the 8 standard possibilities of Bikes.

For anyone wondering what the 8 bicentennial Ike dollars are: P/D type 1/2 (4), clad proof type 1/2 (2), 40% silver S business and proof (2).
