2026 goal: I had been slowly making progress on my Shakespeare tokens/medals collection.
But now I'm shifting focus on picking up 1893 Columbian Exposition elongated coins. So far I've gone from having 0 to 8.

I think I will compete an antonine dynasty set. Inventoring some neglected bronzes I noticed I was mostly there with the men already.

Good catch, joe!
Rubber bands made from natural rubber contain sulfur, which can react with bronze or silver to give ugly black marks that cannot be removed without damaging the coin's surface. Maybe not an issue if they do not directly contact any coins' surface, but as you say, can still become unsightly.
Probably safest to use only synthetic rubber bands if used at all.

I agree about the rubber bands. I have had my share of mishaps over they years. Thankfully, none of it coin related.  |

Right now I'm concentrating on finding 1 oz pure silver coins that are under $100. I've recently found some nice ones from $85 to $95 and I know there are more out there.
Still looking for the 2022 and 2023 1 oz Silver $5 Lucky Dragon High Relief coins to complete the series.
Continuing my frustrating search for 1 oz silver Libertad coins to fill gaps in my date set. Hopefully the Mexican mint won't pull the same stunt this year that they pulled last year.

I haven't posted as I was working on my other hobbies, I recently started back and honestly, my want list is pretty expensive lately, so I'll work on the following: 1)Try to add the missing coins to my slabbed IHC (have 6 missing and 4 I want to upgrade to AU +), the ones missing will take a while so I'll post when I do the majority of the ones I have missing. 2) Still missing the 1893 and 1895 Morgan. As these are the same price as the missing IHC, I'll get what I find at a price I think is good first. 3) The missing paper money and money from Portugal is also up there $$$, so for the rest of the year, this maybe on hold. |
