Well I had no problem getting about 25 rolls of the LP1 from my bank but they merged changed names and now are not getting the LP2 I gave up can't find them anywhere same with the Guam I did get them but who know with the next one.

I think the US Mint should offer the direct mail program for all the new coins they release now as more and more banks are not getting them and they are almost impossible to find.

I do get the Mint sets of the LP1 and LP2 that is the only way I got the LP2
Rest in Peace

Does anyone know why the 2009 dimes/nickels are so hard to find this year? 2008 P were pretty hard to find too. I have been asking around at all my banks with no luck. It is like the new penny search..lol

It wasnt the only way to get LP1's or LP2's at all , to avoid the highwaymen of ebay all one needs do is subscribe on the mint page.
As Ratty points out , not so long back this forum was awash in them.

Reason #1 for the scarcity of 2009 coins in circulation: The enormous
'backwash' of existing coins coming back into the Federal
Reserve, starting with the stock market 'crash' in the fall of 2008.
"The Great Coin Jar Cash-In of 2008+" is no joke!

Reason #2: The Federal Reserve made no provision for banks to be able
to order the 2009 Cents as Commemorative Issues, as they have done
with the State/Territory Quarters and Presidential dollars. There has
also been a dramatic drop in banks ordering new Quarters and Dollars,
due to their existing stockpiles and massive numbers of coins coming
back into the banks.

Reason #3: The Federal Reserve also made no provision for banks to be
able to order the new Native American dollars, so we now have a
business strike coin that can only be obtained directly from the U.S.
Mint! (unless you're lucky enough to find one in circulation
that someone got from the Direct Ship program and spent it!)

Reason #4: The mintage of 2009 business strike Nickels and Dimes was
announced to have been ceased for the rest of the year, in April.
Oddly enough, 484,000 Nickels were made at the Denver Mint in June,
and they all went straight to the Federal Reserve!

Well said, DNA!

It would not be so bad if the Mint Sets still had business strike coins and not the special satin finish coins it has now.

All I want is a few nice P&D coins with no spotting.

I have some bad news for you....they all have spots. The higher grade ones just have fewer spots. Based on the ANACS 67's I got, the level of the black spots is a big factor, even deep hits seem to be forgiven. I don't at all agree with the grading process, I can live with the water spots, but I really can't live with a 2-mm long deep hit.

The new Cents seem "to me" to be more and more prevalent. I have been traveling the country since early June and have found both Log Cabins and Slackers in almost every city I've been to. I ask if they have rolls if I see any in their drawer or get 'em in change, everywhere I go. I also just stop in at random banks and ask.I have so many rolls of both and each mint mark now, that I've started spending them and mixing them in when I re-roll from roll hunting.

If you can't find them at your bank....go to another bank, if they don't have them....go to another bank and ask them.

I guess I'm lucky 'cause my job pays me to travel to concerts all over the place.

Just keep looking, and keep asking, and you'll find 'em.

Yeah... me too.
But the first 2009 I saw in circulation was a Formative Years.

I'm in NE Texas and the only one I have seen is one my nephew got in change at school. I keep an eye out for them when I get change, but have yet to receive any of them. Oh well, eventually I suppose.
