Are the red seal twos worth a lot more than the modern ones? I have a bunch of them in cases from my grandma's old collection.

any seal other than green is worth more because people traded them in for precios metals alot, instead of keeping them for there face value.

look here for prices:

My bank always has $2 bills. I sometimes get them as gifts for birthdays.

What's fun is to pick up a bunch, and then spend them at various stores and watch the reactions.

Gary thats what I have been doing, they look at it like its some sort of counterfit or something, especially the foreigners that own the convenience stores around here, because I am guessing they have never seen them before. The kids at the grocery store are fun to watch also, I had one call her manager and he was all about 18 and he had to go call a guy out of the back I think he was the butcher to tell him what it was

Last summer I was in dallas and rode the train to west end. The machine to buy tickets from gave change back in Sac dollars. That evening we went to a restuarant and I paid the waitress with some of the sac dollars. I heard her asking the table next to us what they were. lol Hard to believe she didn't know that they were dollar coins.

I recently decided to spend some of my unusual money --- Sackys, SBA's, JFK's, and a couple $2 bills.

Most places took them without batting an eye, but there were a couple who questioned if "the money was real."

I love the stories in this thread. I find it amazing that many people who have to deal with money on a daily basis are lost when an unusual coin or bill turns up! Mike

I have many $2 from all sorts of years in mint condition. If memory serves me correct, I believe I have a star note as well. I am afraid if I go to the bank to get some, I won't spend them....just wind up putting in one of my currency binders with the rest of the 2$ notes.
