Here is the slab. Maybe a long ago light cleaning but corroded, I don't think so. I have examined this coin under high magnification and have found no signs of corrosion. Did ANACS see something I did not I don't have a microscope.

Photos don't tell the whole story, but these two certainly don't show any obvious corrosion. You might consider breaking this one out of it's jail cell and resubmitting.

I think EF45 is a harsh grade but I would NOT resubmit it. If they didn't get it right the first time why on earth would you pay them to do it again?

I agree with bmanofnbc. I not going to waste my time resubmitting. Long ago cleaning? Maybe. Corroded? I just don't see it. I think they were excessively harsh on this lady.

I tend to see a lot of coins that don't look that bad labeled "corroded-cleaned", I think sometimes they just take one look at the color and make some sweeping judgment about surface quality or something. I would agree that their assessment was off though.

Your coin is NOT corroded! This is what an 1804 corroded Half Cent looks like!

Well, I sent to be crossed over into a PCGS holder. I figured why not see what their opinion is. I would much rather have this coin in a PCGS holder for a few reasons. If it ends up in a genuine holder as I suspect it may, then so be it.

when you send a coin for crossover do you leave it in the slab? I would take it out, no reason to give them any info from the previous grader in my opinion.

Well, just received grades from PCGS. Here is the result of this coin in their opinion: Genuine (91 - Questionable Color)
ANACS originally called corroded/cleaned? Go figure.

Keep it in the PCGS slab. They probably did so because of the light cleaning, but it shows the lack of consistency amongst TPGs.
