The 2007 Red Books are out too now as mentioned in another thread. Remember, the books themselves are collectibles, especially in hard bound, and don't mark them up if you want to collect them too. Also, the Red Books are only GUIDES! There are a lot of mysteries associated with coins (i.e., errors, DD's, etc.)

Mom and Dad would be Susan(Susanlynn9) and Bobby(Bobby131313), the creators of this forum.

My parents wont let me give out my address on the web. Sorry, but I would feel better if I bought stuff with my own cash. Thanks for the offer though. Like they say it feels better if you just earn it yourself.

My dad said we could go to the pawn shop next week but the dealer is too far away. I called the pawn shop and he has a VAULT OF COINS thats where he keeps ALL the coins. He said I could look through it and see what I wanted to buy and cut me a deal since I'm a new collector.

There are many good coin deals to be made at flea markets, with dealers, and at pawn shops. There are also a lot of good deals on the internet. The key to being able to recognize and take advantage of these deals is to educate yourself on the series you're collecting so that you know what to look for. Grading is of the utmost importance in the value of a coin. The Red Book gives some guidelines but the Photograde book is much better to learn from. With the Morgan series, there are also certain mints that are known for weaker strikes and a lot of VAMs to consider. As the Morgan series is one of the most popular to collect, there are many books available to learn from. We also have quite a number of Morgan collectors here who will be more than willing to help you. Remember that you have a responsibility as a buyer to know what you are purchasing. You also have the disadvantage of being young in that a seller may try to take advantage of you due to your age. Other dealers may be more willing to help you get a good deal because of your age. Unfortunately, it is not always easy to tell the difference. Hope this helps you out a little.

Two weeks ago I was at a flea market and I bought my first morgan and the only one I currently have for 25dollars it was 1904 I mint gaurenteed BU did I get scammed or was that a good deal? He said he took em out of a roll and put them in capsul last year and decided to sell them today. He sold to others for 35dollars but since I was a new collector he sold it to me for only 25dollars. Did I get ripped off or was this a good buy?

You got a pretty good deal if the coin really is BU.
