Lets see what you have. list them in the buy sell trade section. The worst thing that could happen is you get to keep what you already have.

I'm not really the type to do that myself (I'm the hoarding type), but if you don't mind parting with those coins then do it! If you have something of value but aren't getting enjoyment out of it why keep it?

Quote: If you have something of value but aren't getting enjoyment out of it why keep it? If you are like me you have a limited amount of money to indulge yourself with, you might as well get the maximum enjoyment out of what you have. There's no way of knowing if the value of silver will increase at a faster rate than type coins & it doesn't really make any difference. The important thing is to have fun.

It really depends upon your personal goals. If you want to build a set of coins and feel you do not want or need the extra silver then sell or trade your silver off. The silver coins will buy you some of the more expensive stuff you need. Quality antique coins will always be quality antique coins so it it a wise investment but then again so is silver bullion. Bullion value silver will always be bullion value silver though. You must decide which type of coin you personally prefer. Both are good choices and both have potential of appreciation so from a financial sense both make perfect sense. So tell me, what do you enjoy collecting more? Sincerely, John Leckrone

I'd probably have to go with the type coins. This is why I have thought about getting rid of my extra silver. I am putting together sets of Wash, Rooseys ect but all the silver would be extra so. I think I will probably list them in at least one of the bst forums.

I voted hoard the silver...but only until the kids are out of college! I know you're a family man, and I think the silver might be better off for you for now, in case you have to dump it. But...once the little ones are grown, spend it how you want!

I voted yes and buy some type coins. You could start with the ones I am going to list for sale today!

I just got rid of some junk silver bracelets for $40 to help with paying a bill or two. If I had more I would sell it too but I voted you only sell the junk as that is what I did.

Keep your silver. Prices in gold and silver should start moving up again around the new year.. then sell it

While I am a hoarder at heart (I think I should be on that A&E show) I would like to eventually trade my silver in so that I can purchase a nice addition to my Carson City 1875 set. I'm thinking if I can get enough, I will be able to plunk some down towards the gold coins there.

KEEP THE SILVER! Find something else that you can sell/trade or wait a bit until you can buy again.

I voted to sell and reinvest because I prefer the collectable coins versus just the scrap/extra bullion. Whatever you do - keep it in silver!

I just made a trade to another member on the forum for a nice capped bust half. I know I will enjoy it a lot more than some extra junk quarters and dimes. Thanks for all the input it made my decision easier! God Bless, Brad
