Carl,
when I read this thread I see none of what you mentioned, I see a few questions asked a few personal experiances expressed and some personal growth of other collectors used as examples.
This forum has a motto.
Its right under the name.
Education is the key to collector success.
By imparting personal experiance the people who have posted here have done their part to live up to that Motto and goal of the forum.

Maybe overkill or exgerated but just trying to note that Adam is really happy with what he purchased. If he is happy with those, then that is what he may want. Of course suggesting better, higher, nicer anything is good advise but all I was trying to point out is that was not the subject. Adam was just saying here is what I have and I really like them. And Adam, I still want to know how you got the free things. I want to go to the same coin shows. The only things I get free are advertisements of upcoming coin shows or a copy of Numismatic News.

Quote: You got some deals ... you were happy with your acquisitions ... you didn't spend too much ... you can always trade and upgrade later. What's not to like about that?
Sounds like you are happy with your purchases Looks like your off to a great start. You can ALWAYS upgrade your collection later. I just had to do it

pics will come up but I want to answer Carl's question about free coins. I'm a kid, they want to have new collectors around so they keep me going with some coins (but the Liberty nickel was from the same dealer that sold me the Barber quarter and half so I think that was a bonus)

Well done Adam. I'm glad you like your new coins. In response to the rest of the feedback, I'm a little shocked at some of the replies that were given. Speaking merely as a member and not a fellow moderator, I'm surprised that Metalmans reply was taken as some kind of "Why did you buy those" comment. All he was trying to do was determine how Adam was going about his collection. Knowing he is a new collector, he tried to inform him that through the years, some of us start to change our ways and we start collecting higher grade examples one at a time instead of many at lesser grades. If Adam wants to fill holes and upgrade later, good for him. We have all done that at one time or another. Metalman was merely providing guidance to one way to collect coins. Regardless, Adam, any questions or advice needed, please feel free to ask. I think you are doing a great job at picking up coins. I love the V nickel. Probably my favorite coin.

Adam - nice job young man! Congrats on another fantastic day at the coin show. I think you picked up a couple of great deals (especially the freebies!!).
Time to start saving again - there is another show not too far off I'm sure!

Adam, you should be proud of yourself. Those are nice looking, original coins! When I was your age, I was barely starting out as well and had no where near the acquisitions that you have come by. Again, congrats :-), those are some nice looking coins! Great pics too. Looks like your 1905-S Barber half dollar spent some time in a blue Whitman album. Those stripes on the reverse are a tell tale sign.
